VOLUNTEER and INTERNSHIP INFORMATION
COMMITTED VOLUNTEER · You will be required to be on a schedule for no less than 3 months and two days a week. You will have advanced training and will have special allotments for wolf interaction.
NON-COMMITTED VOLUNTEER · You are not expected to be on a committed schedule, however you will be limited on different tasks and perks such as wolf interaction.
TOUR GUIDE INTERN · You will be required to be on a schedule for no less than 3 months and 2
days a week. You will have the same training as paid staff and special allotments for wolf interaction. Receiving college credit can be arranged with your advisor.
PR & SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN · You will be required to be on a schedule for no less than 3 months
and 4 days per week. You will oversee CWWC’s social media presence and maintain public
relations. You will have special allotments for supervised time with wolves for media purposes.

This is an inspiring place where I am honored and blessed to lend my skills. Be it the animals, staff, or our guests - everything and everyone here has a story and a purpose which contributes to making a difference far beyond the geographic boundaries of the Center. What begins here and happens here truly is magic.
It is both an honor and a privilege to have been a part of CWWC since June 2002. To be a part of an organization that strives to make a difference for our wolves and wildlife is not only rewarding but inspiring. There are no words to describe the feeling of being in the presence of such majestic animals.
I started at CWWC in 2006 as a wolf walker with the wonderful Wakanda. He opened my eyes to the perils of wolves in the wild and we formed a long lasting friendship. I am lucky to be a part of the CWWC family.
I started at CWWC October 2010. My time with the wolves and fellow wolf lovers is just as enjoyable today as it was when I started. As a retiree I love having the freedom and time to actively be a voice for these wonderful animals.
From the time I was just a kid, I have loved animals, but wolves were always my favorite. I started volunteering at CWWC in March 2012 and enjoy every minute I spend here. Words cannot describe how these amazing animals have touched my heart and soul.
I was raised in Oklahoma and brought about ever kind of critter home the state had to offer. When I found CWWC it was just a perfect match. I hope the hard work this sanctuary is doing will educate the public and save these beautiful animals for future generations.
I joined the Army in 1998. During my time I served in Iraq and Afghanistan. I am a certified Combat Life Saver and used my skills while deployed both on Soldiers and Military Working Dogs. I have done extensive work with Military Working Dogs both with the EOD and Military Police. My love for animals has continued throughout my life. I retired from the Army in 2016. I joined CWWC in 2016. Here, I continue with my love of nature by being “part of the pack”.
I have always had a passion for advocating for wildlife, but wolves - being as misunderstood as they are - have captured a very special place in my heart! I graduated from Penn State with my degree in Animal Science and Wildlife Science in May and began working at the center in October of 2018. CWWC allows me to live my dream of working with wolves while educating and dispelling the myths surrounding these gentle, majestic animals.
I have always wanted to work with animals, especially the Wolf. I was very fortunate that after 25 years of military service I was able to move out to Colorado and fulfill that dream. I love working at CWWC and educating the public about these amazing and very misunderstood animals. Hopefully someday everyone will come to understand the beauty and necessity of the wolf.
Animals have always been my passion. I came to CWWC after realizing the vet world was not for me. A 6 month internship has turned into a dream job I didn’t know I wanted. My knowledge and experience grows every day. Working with these complex animals is quite the adventure.
I’ve always loved animals and after my internship in Australia caring for wombats, kangaroos and devils, I knew this is the field I needed to be in. I heard great things about CWWC, and as soon as I saw the wolves here, I knew I had to be a part of this organization. I love being able to educate people and share my passion with wolves!
I wanted to intern at the CWWC because it is my dream to work at a wolf conservation center. I want to teach people why wolves are important for the ecosystem and I’m ecstatic to be able to do that here at CWWC.
Earning the trust of the animals is the most rewarding experience. Being a voice for ALL animals, focusing on the Majestic Wolf is my greatest story. Witnessing the growth & development of Darlene’s dream for CWWC is inspiring and an honor to watch.
I am a lover of nature and all living things, especially wolves. I am happy to play a role contributing to CWWC’s mission of education, conservation and preservation. Nothing makes my heart more full than knowing that with each and every tour more people are educated about the adversities our wildlife face today and how they can become a voice for the voiceless. I came to work at CWWC in 2020. I soon realized that the energy and passion here was beyond exceptional. We are a voice for these wolves and other animals here and afar. I love when guests finish their tours and come back in awe of these amazing animals. I look forward to a better understanding of these beautiful wolves as I continue my work at CWWC.
Ever since I was a kid growing up in Wisconsin I have always loved animals. However, wolves were never on my radar when I was considering which animal to work with. Everyone was saying to work with elephants or lions, but then I heard the story of the wolf. How such a misunderstood animal can affect an entire ecosystem for the better, and yet we as a species treat it so poorly & that is why the wolf is special to me and hopefully here at CWWC it can inspire others to love them as well.
I have been an animal lover my whole life and got my first glimpse of the magnificence of wolves during a high school internship at the Endangered Wolf Center in Missouri. I’m now a student at UCCS studying animal behavior and am extremely grateful to be a part of this pack and for the opportunity to work with these beautiful animals! I love being a part of the incredible work that is done here & being able to show people how wonderful and misunderstood wolves are.

I was born in February 1962 in Torrance, CA. As a young girl my favorite things were animals and the beach. I have always had a pet of some type from hamsters to horses and never felt lonely with them around. I made a promise one day when I was 9 years old to a dog that was being abused by some kids on a playground who I saved, that I would create a rescue someday to be a voice. I followed my promise, but it has been one long and difficult journey, however it has been all worthwhile.
Throughout my life I have tried to be a voice for the ones who are abused, abandoned, hungry or injured through either rescuing them myself, signing and creating petitions to donating money or materials that is needed. Once a year I am happy to have a vacation, however I feel happiest when I can give back to the environment and help animals in need. I usually choose a third world country and bring veterinarian supplies to spay and neuter clinics. I am so lucky to have a wonderful man in my life who is passionate about the same issues and we work together as a team helping when we can. We also set aside a day on vacation to clean the beach of litter to give back to the earth.
This is what I love to do and if the opportunity ever comes where I can have another dream come true, I would create free animal clinics in poor countries and help curb the abuse through education and promote conservation for native wildlife.My life has taken some interesting twists and I have taken the good with the bad to create not only myself but my Center.
I graduated from high school, worked in steel and plastic factories and then went to tech-school as a EMT and combined it with aircraft mechanics and flight lessons. I unfortunately did not make it past that point due to financial reasons at that struggling age, but it was an accomplishment. I have worked as a lab technician, waitress, land surveyor, construction worker and so many in-between. I feel that with all of these jobs combined together, they have given me the basic experience to create what CWWC is today.I am currently writing a book about my life's adventures entitled, "Against All Odds". This book was inspired by having no direction as a kid, but having a dream in my heart. Through hard work and a true passion I have created and am living my dream. I would like others -especially kids who think that if they don't have everything given to them, that they cannot accomplish what they want. I know from experience that it can become a reality if you believe and don’t give up.
Life is truly a gift and I believe that giving back makes you worthy of living.
